Understanding Computer-Use Agents (CUA)
A computer-use agent is an AI model that interacts with software and digital environments. This system can navigate interfaces, execute commands, and automate workflows without human intervention. Unlike traditional AI chatbots that rely on manual prompts, a CUA can complete tasks independently, bringing true automation into reality.
Computer-use Agents work by observing and learning from human demonstrations. They are trained by watching humans perform real-world tasks on a computer, such as filling out forms or handling a customer request. After the training, they mimic and adapt to the sequence of steps needed to execute the task autonomously and replicate those actions automatically. Although each interface and workflow comes with its own software environments, a CUA can easily adapt to any workflow. This adaptability allows them to perform tasks as a virtual worker.
A CUA can perform the following when deployed:
Customer support automation
Data processing and entry
Configure and manage software operations
Market research to extract relevant data
Shop and complete orders on an e-commerce website.
